The Joys and Challenges of Revision: A Hands-on Approach to Forming and Finishing a Project for Publication

Perfect for: Writers ready to take their revision process to the next level

WORKSHOP • Saturday, March 28, 2026 • 9am-11am PST

Revision is a journey of discovery—and an essential step in transforming a draft into a finished, publishable work. By approaching revision as an adventure rather than a chore, writers can unlock their manuscript’s full potential and move their work forward with clarity and confidence.

Writing is discovering; revising is discovering more. If writing gets us out of the driveway, revision is both the road and the vehicle—the engine, the tires, the shoes on our feet. Each project requires its own kind of revision, its own rules of the road, and its own sense of destination. Through intention, curiosity, and strategic choices, revision carries a manuscript not just toward completion, but toward its strongest possible form.

This interactive, 2-hour workshop focuses on strategic, generative revision—the kind that deepens meaning, sharpens structure, and clarifies voice. Working with participant pages and projects, we’ll explore practical tools and flexible methods that help writers see their work more clearly and revise with purpose rather than overwhelm. Whether you’re early in revision or polishing toward submission, this workshop offers concrete ways to move your project forward.

Sibyl Writing Craft workshops are held via zoom, allowing you to participate from anywhere.

  • You will receive your Zoom link via email the day before the webinar.
  • We will email any essential course materials, handouts, and recommended resources prior to the start of the webinar.

In this workshop, we will:

  • Create personalized revision “travel kits” to strengthen what’s working and push your manuscript further

  • Practice finding the courage to cut—one word or one thousand—while also learning when and how to invite more onto the page

  • Reconsider your “darlings,” exploring what they might teach you before you decide to keep, cut, or transform them

  • Learn how to seek, give, and receive constructive feedback as a powerful tool for revision and growth

Begin your discovery. Unlock your manuscript's true potential.

You’ll gain a clearer sense of where your project is headed, practical strategies for getting it there, and a renewed relationship to revision as a vital—and even joyful—part of the writing life.
